Patrick Mahomes Wins Super Bowl MVP

Jon Helmkamp  :

Patrick Mahomes adds to his trophy case by winning his second Super Bowl MVP award. He becomes the seventh player in NFL history to win NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season. Mahomes' Super Bowl MVP odds were set at +135.

Mahomes is putting together an unreal list of accolades in his young career. You can make a very good case that, after only five seasons as a starting quarterback in the NFL, Mahomes has already put together a Hall of Fame resume. If you were live betting Mahomes to win the Super Bowl MVP, his odds got up to around +400.

Mahomes will enter an offseason ready to rest and heal his ankle for another run at a Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes Leads Chiefs To Second Super Bowl Win In Four Years

Jon Helmkamp  :

The Chiefs were otherworldly in the second half, scoring on every drive. Mahomes became the first NFL MVP winner to win the Super Bowl since Kurt Warner in 1999, winning his second Super Bowl in his age 27 season.

The Chiefs entered this game as underdogs – the first time that Mahomes has been a playoff underdog. Despite the ankle injury before halftime, Mahomes gutted out an impressive second half, and finished the game with 182 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and 44 rushing yards. Most surprisingly, Mahomes was not sacked once in this game.

The Eagles head into the offseason with plenty of free agency questions, and a need to start working on a contract extension for Jalen Hurts.

Harrison Butker Gets Doink Redemption With Late Field Goal

Jon Helmkamp  :

After the Chiefs were the benefit of a late defensive holding call that gave the Chiefs a 1st and Goal, Kansas City ran the clock down to 11 seconds to put the game on the line with the right leg of Harrison Butker, who missed one earlier. Butker knocked home the 27-yard field goal to put the Chiefs up by three with eight seconds remaining.

The Eagles will need a miracle to get into field goal range for a chance to tie the game.

Jalen Hurts Answers With Long Pass, Setting Up Touchdown

Jon Helmkamp  :

The fourth quarter has been a wild roller coaster. Following what seemed like punches to the jaw from the Kansas City Chiefs, Jalen Hurts responds with a deep completion down the sidelines to DeVonta Smith. Stepping out of bounds at the two yard line, the Eagles lined up for a quarterback sneak, punching it in, and followed it with a two-point conversion to tie the game with 4:59 remaining.

Following the score, the Chiefs are still the favorites to finish this out at -160 on the live odds moneyline. The Eagles sit at +130 odds. The points are coming fast and furious, so buckle up for the finale of this one.

Toney Follows Touchdown With Massive Punt Return, Swings Live Odds

Jon Helmkamp  :

After finding the end zone, Kadarius Toney took a punt return inside the Eagles 10 yard line, setting Patrick Mahomes up with an instant scoring opportunity. After stopping Kansas City twice, the Eagles defense was unable to limit rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore, who was left wide open to the left of the formation for a walk-in touchdown.

Suddenly, the Chiefs have swung this game to an eight point lead in the manner of a few minutes, and find themselves as heavy betting favorites. The Super Bowl live odds currently have the Chiefs moneyline at -550, and a live spread at -5.5 (+100).

Kadarius Toney Gives Kansas City Late Lead

Jon Helmkamp  :

The Chiefs traded for wide receiver Kadarius Toney earlier this season, and he has shown up on the biggest stage. With his short touchdown reception at the goal line in the fourth quarter, Toney gave the Chiefs their first lead of the game. Toney had pretty long odds to find the endzone in this game, with his anytime touchdown prop priced around +250 odds.

Sportsbooks have responded by giving the Chiefs and the Eagles even moneyline live odds, pricing both of them at -115. The Eagles still find themselves as 1.5 point favorites, but the odds this is priced essentially as a pick-em. It looks as though we are in for a photo finish to this Super Bowl.

Isiah Pacheco Running Hard, Cashes Over On Player Prop

Jon Helmkamp  :

Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco has been running hard all night, driving for extra yardage and proving to be incredibly difficult to tackle. Pacheco's rushing prop was set at 49.5 yards, and at the end of the third quarter, he has racked up 58 carries and a touchdown on only 10 carries.

Pacheco has been a strength in the Chiefs offense all night. As Kansas City tries to climb back into this game, he has been one of their best weapons. Pacheco will factor in to the ending of this game.

Dallas Goedert Makes Special Catches To Keep Drive Alive

Jon Helmkamp  :

Philadelphia Eagles' tight end Dallas Goedert made a spectacular sideline catch to keep a crucial drive alive after the Kansas City Chiefs scored a touchdown. The Eagles are driving, and the live odds reflect it – the Eagles moneyline odds are up to -280 as they continue to drive towards potential points.

The Eagles are knocking on the door of the red zone, looking to push their lead back to two scores. If you believe that the Chiefs will pull this off, now is the perfect time to bet on them.

Super Bowl Live Odds: Mahomes Answers Injury Concerns With Long Drive

Jon Helmkamp  :

Whatever the Chiefs medical staff did to Mahomes at halftime seems to be working wonders. Althought he still looks somewhat hobbled, Mahomes was able to scramble for a long gain and lead the Chiefs down the field for a touchdown, making it a three point game. The Chiefs odds before the half were up to +400, and now sit at +155.

Mahomes will try to lead a second half comeback after trailing by 10 points at the half, while Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will attempt to drive and stave off the momentum that has shifted to Kansas City.

Super Bowl Second Half Player Props And Live Bet Odds

Jon Helmkamp  :

Looking ahead to the second half of the Super Bowl, there are a couple player props worth exploring, especially when considering that Mahomes is likely to be hobbled.

Kansas City could be looking to get the ball out of his hands more quickly. Running back Jerick McKinnon already has two catches on the day despite Philadelphia having run 44 plays to Kansas City's 20. You can bet on McKinnon to finish the game with OVER 4.5 receptions at +117 odds on Caesars Sportsbook.

As the Eagles continue to grind the clock, it makes complete sense that the sportsbooks currently have all rushing props locked for Philadelphia. Worth a look, though, is Dallas Goedert to finish with OVER 4.5 receptions. Goedert currently has three catches. He only needs two more as a solid threat in the middle of the field for Hurts.

Bet these and other player props before the Super Bowl kicks off for the second half.

Super Bowl Live Odds Update: Jake Elliott Extends Halftime Lead For Eagles To 24-14

Jon Helmkamp  :

The Eagles weren't able to get another touchdown before the half, but they were able to kill the rest of the clock on their way to converting a field goal before the half. Now up 24-14 and with a hobbled Patrick Mahomes on the other side, the Eagles are -400 on the live odds moneyline, and the spread is currently -7.0 (-115).

Take a breath, football fans. Enjoy your halftime and look through the various live betting markets and player props currently available on the top NFL betting sites.

Patrick Mahomes Re-Injures Ankle, Chiefs Live Odds Tumble To +300

Jon Helmkamp  :

Patrick Mahomes was attempting to scramble, and after being tackled, got up obviously hobbled. Limping to the bench, favoring the ankle injury he's been nursing, he took his helmet off and was in visible pain. Backup Chad Henne was seen warming up on the sideline.

the spread is currently locked from wagers while the moneyline odds continue to lean further and further towards the Eagles and away from the Chiefs. The Eagles are currently -400, and the Chiefs are +300. Mahomes will have to battle through pain if he remains in this game.

Jalen Hurts Fumbles, Kansas City Returns It For A Touchdown

Jon Helmkamp  :

Jalen Hurts started this game 10/12 passing with a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown. Everything was going right for Hurts and the Eagles, who had the ball around midfield and a touchdown lead, driving on their way to more points. On a designed quarterback run on 3rd down, Hurts was trying to change the ball to the other hand while he was being tackled, and fumbled in the backfield. Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton scooped the ball and ran it back for a touchdown, tying the game.

The live odds for this game are now back to what they were pre-game, with the Eagles currently favored at -1.5, and the Eagles are at -120 on the moneyline compared to -110 for the Chiefs.

A.J. Brown Catches Long Touchdown Pass To Open Second Quarter

Jon Helmkamp  :

Jalen Hurts was given plenty of time in the pocket, and he capitalized, hitting A.J. Brown for a deep 45-yard touchdown pass. Brown was acquired on a draft day trade during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and the acquisition of Brown helps Hurts emerge into a top-tier quarterback.

Brown's anytime touchdown odds were hovering around +125 and +140, providing an early pay day to bettors who placed money on the explosive wide receiver.

Now 14-7, the Eagles live betting odds stands at -3.5 (-115), and their moneyline is at -190.

Harrison Butker Doinks Off The Upright

Jon Helmkamp  :

One of the more unique prop bets that could be placed on this Super Bowl was "would there be a doink?" Those who bet "yes" were able to cash +450 odds when Harrison Butker, the Chiefs kicker, banged one off the left upright on his first field goal attempt of the game.

The Chiefs elected to kick a field goal on 4th and short, when the offense was rolling. Hindsight is always 20/20, but it was a situation where Kansas City could have elected to keep their offense on the field in plus territory.

Travis Kelce Answers Scores Touchdown For Chiefs

Jon Helmkamp  :

Travis Kelce, the best tight in the NFL, wasted no time getting the Chiefs on the board after the Eagles scored the opening drive. Not only did Kelce cash his anytime touchdown prop at -115 odds, but he put himself in second place all time in playoff receiving touchdowns behind only Jerry Rice.

The real juice for Kelce? Getting an early score gives him an early advantage in chasing two plus touchdowns, which was hovering around +470 odds.

This game is all offense early, and could be trending towards a high-scoring affair. With the score knotted at seven, the live odds are back Philadelphia at -1.5.

Jalen Hurts Cashes First Touchdown Player Prop At +700 Odds

Jon Helmkamp  :

After a solid first drive by the Eagles to start the Super Bowl, featuring three catches by DeVonta Smith, the Eagles handed off the Kenneth Gainwell near the goal line. He was stopped short, spotting the ball inside the one yard line, giving the Eagles first and goal on the doorstep.

They didn't try to disguise it. Lining up in an obvious quarterback sneak formation, Hurts kept it himself and pushed forward into the end zone.

Before the game, Hurts had +700 odds to be the first touchdown scorer of the game. It was the 11th opening possession touchdown of the season for the Eagles.

Super Bowl Pre-Game Prop Bets: National Anthem And Coin Toss

Jon Helmkamp  :

The National Anthem is one of the most heavily-bet Super Bowl prop bets each year. With country singer Chris Stapleton performing this year, the line was set at 1:59.5. With a slower-paced, moving rendition, Stapleton's performance cleared that mark, cashing the over.

After the national anthem was the coin toss, and the Kansas City Chiefs won with a call of tails. They elected to defer, giving the Eagles the first possession of the game, putting first touchdown prop bets on Eagles offensive players potentially on tap.

Both heads and tails in the coin toss held even +100 odds, but the Chiefs proved that "tails never fails."

The Best NFL Sportsbooks Are Ready For Super Bowl 57

Jon Helmkamp  :

The best sportsbooks in the industry are offering a wide variety of betting markets for the big game. Get started by joining the following books to capitalize on welcome offers that will provide plenty of options for how to bet.

BetMGM is one of the best sports betting sites to make your Super Bowl bets. They're offering a great bonus code, and have a special parlay available to bet on. You can wager on Miles Sanders and Jalen Hurts to each score 1+ touchdown and for the Eagles to win. The odds of these three things happening is +525, offering a generous payout.

If you sign up with Caesars Sportsbook, you'll find plenty of options to wager on. One player prop being offered is whether Eagles C.J. Gardner-Johnson will record an interception. You can get "yes" odds at +550 for a player that had six interceptions on the season.

DraftKings Sportsbook is also offering multiple special parlays. If you like Jalen Hurts to rush for 30+ yards in each half, you can place that bet at +600 odds. Hurts, one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league, could certainly take matters into his own hands.

FanDuel Sportsbook and their lucrative Super Bowl sign-up bonus is another place to wager. While it's unlikely that a non-quarterback will win Super Bowl MVP, two wide receivers have brought home the award in the last four years. Playing the narrative that the Chiefs will focus on A.J. Brown, you can get DeVonta Smith at +3100 odds to win the award.

Super Bowl Betting Trends Over The Last Ten Years For Last Minute NFL Picks

Al MacMilan  :

Super Bowl LVII is just a few hours away, and if you're looking for some last-minute picks, there's no better place to look than at the actionable historical betting trends available for the Super Bowl.

The betting underdog has cashed in five of the last ten years of Super Bowl betting, though the edge in more recent history goes to the favorite, who has won three of the last five Super Bowls.

Nevertheless, a $100 bettor who has backed the underdog on the moneyline in each of the last ten Super Bowls has earned a profit of +$289. Meanwhile, the betting underdog on the ATS line has managed an even higher win rate, thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Last year, the Bengals lost as +3.5 point underdogs by 23-20, marking the sixth cover by an underdog in the last ten years of Super Bowl betting.

The Fourth Quarter Under has cashed in six of the last ten years of Super Bowl games, including three of the last five Super Bowls. Other actionable betting trends include the '1H Under', which has cashed in six of the last ten Super Bowls, including one push in 2021 at Super Bowl LV.

More recent history has shown the first half under betting trend to be even more lucrative, with three of the last five Super Bowls seeing the game go under in the first half, including the historical snooze fest known as Super Bowl LIII, which saw the first half end with no touchdowns, and a score of 3-0.

Meanwhile, the highest-scoring first half of the last ten years of Super Bowls came the last time the Philadelphia Eagles won a championship. Super Bowl LII saw the first half end with the Eagles leading the Patriots 22-12, a first half which included one of the most memorable plays in Eagles history, known as 'the Philly Special.

Late Money Coming In On Underdog Chiefs

Jon Helmkamp  :

As the Super Bowl has been drawing closer, the betting action seems to be favoring the Kansas City Chiefs. As of now, the Super Bowl odd still favor the Eagles, who are 1.5 point favorites, but money this weekend seems to be coming in on the Chiefs.

The late money backing the Chiefs has driven down the total handle on the Eagles at PointsBet from 81% to 67%. This is the first time in Patrick Mahomes' career that he enters a playoff game as an underdog. In total, Mahomes is 7-1-1 in games where his team isn't favored.

The Chiefs have only been underdogs twice this year, covering once, but including the playoffs, the Chiefs are only 7-12 this year against the spread.

There are betting trends all over the place, and the Super Bowl live odds will certainly swing early in the game based on who puts points on the board first.

Bet These Super Bowl Betting Picks Ahead Of The Big Game

Jon Helmkamp  :

Plenty of money will be exchanged between now and Sunday, as the Super Bowl is the most-bet sporting event every year. When deciding how to place your wagers on the countless options available, looking at various player prop bets can be one of the best ways to bet.

Travis Kelce anytime touchdown (-114) is one of the best bets you can make. While it doesn't hold a ton of value, there's a reason why Kelce has the best odds on the board to find the end zone.

Kelce has scored three touchdowns in the two playoff games that the Chiefs have played in this year, and has 15 touchdowns in 17 career playoff games. He's far and away the best option for Patrick Mahomes.

Another bet to consider is A.J. Brown OVER 71.5 receiving yards. Joe Burrow and the Bengals dropped back to pass 41 times against this Chiefs defense in the AFC Championship Game, with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both going for over 75 receiving yards against an inexperienced secondary. Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones went for 83 yards against them in the Division round. In fact, the Chiefs have allowed a wide receiver to eclipse 73 receiving yards in four of their last five games, and six of their last eight. The only two teams that reach that benchmark were the Texans and the Broncos.

Brown finished the season with the fourth-most receiving yards in the NFL this year. Expect Hurts to target his top option early and often in the biggest game of his young career.

Bet This DeVonta Smith Super Bowl Prop Bet

Jon Helmkamp  :

A.J. Brown is getting plenty of attention in the betting markets for the Super Bowl, but the Eagles have more than one solid wide receiver. DeVonta Smith to score the first touchdown can be found at +1300 odds.

The Kansas City Chiefs allowed 1.8 passing touchdowns per game this season, which was dead last in the NFL. Relying on a combintion of young defenders in the secondary, the Eagles passing attack could find room for early success. Smith, a former Heisman Trophy winner, logged 1,196 receiving yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Smith is one of the focal points of this offense, and the NFL player prop odds on him to be the first touchdown scorer could provide a lucrative payout.

Can Patrick Mahomes End MVP Super Bowl Luck?

Jon Helmkamp  :

Being named the NFL MVP doesn't guarantee winning the ultimate prize. It would stand to reason, however, that being the best player in the game that season would lead to some postseason success.

Unfortunately for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, there's a nasty Super Bowl betting trend that he'll be trying to battle against in tonight's game.

The last nine NFL MVPs to lead their teams to the Super Bowl came up short, with Kurt Warner in 1999 standing as the last player to win the MVP and the Super Bowl in the same season.

Mahomes led the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns this year, and will face an Eagles defense that has been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. Philadelphia has held opposing offenses to the fourth-fewest points per game and the fewest total yards per game, while also generating the fourth-most takeaways and a whopping 70 sacks in the regular season.

If Mahomes is going to buck this trend, he'll have to play a dominant game.

The Eagles Riding With Jalen Hurts Got Them To The Super Bowl

Jon Helmkamp  :

There have been few greater rises this year in the NFL world than that of Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts. Now in his third season, he's proven to be the real deal, despite heaps of criticism.

Last year, Hurts finished the season with an 8-7 record, a 61.3% completion percentage, and 26 total touchdowns. Loaded with draft capital, there were plenty of people calling for Philadelphia to replace Hurts in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Instead, the Eagles went all-in to support him, investing in acquiring star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Hurts rewarded their patience handsomely, making massive strides forward in every category. On his way to the No. 1 seed in the NFC, Hurts set career highs in completion percentage (66.5%), passing yards (3701), touchdowns (22), and set a career low interception rate of 1.3%. Yards per attempt, yards per completion, quarterback rating… everything improved.

Hurts is currently a slight favorite to win Super Bowl MVP at +125 odds on Caesars Sportsbook. He has an opportunity to continue his fairy tale ascension on the biggest stage.

Is Patrick Mahomes On The GOAT Trajectory?

Jon Helmkamp  :

There's no denying that Patrick Mahomes has had an otherworldly start to his NFL career. At 27 years old and in his fifth season as a starter after sitting his rookie year, he has led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship in five straight years, is making his third Super Bowl appearance, and has a chance at his second Super Bowl victory.

Mahomes has led the NFL in passing touchdowns twice and passing yards once, which he did this year after the Chiefs traded away receiver Tyreek Hill. Mahomes also won his second MVP award.

How does Mahomes' career start stack up with that of Tom Brady?

Through Brady's age-27 season, Brady had thrown for 13,925 yards, 97 touchdowns, and 52 interceptions, while winning three Super Bowls.

Mahomes has amassed 24,241 passing yards, 192 touchdowns, and 49 interceptions. Statistically, he's leaps and bounds above Brady's career start, and if he is able to add a second Super Bowl ring, you can make an argument that he's on an all-time great trajectory.

The biggest argument for Brady, however, is his longevity. By playing at a high level for a staggering 23 seasons, Brady walks away from the game having won seven of his 10 Super Bowl appearances, and is the all-time leader in passing yards (89,214) and touchdown passes (649).

Mahomes is off to a blazing start, but whether or not he has the longevity in him to catch the GOAT will be a story that we all follow for years to come.

Yes, You Can Really Bet On Super Bowl Odds Of Tom Cruise Parachuting Into The Stadium

Jon Helmkamp  :

The Super Bowl offers all kinds of betting markets, from Super Bowl odds on the game itself, to player props, the length of the national anthem, and more. There's one betting market this year that might be the most unique one yet.

Apparently, Bovada has a betting market on whether or not Tom Cruise will parachute into the stadium and hand deliver the game ball to the referees. The "no" odds are set at -15000, while the "yes" odds offer +2500.

The rumor appears to have started from a scene from Tom Cruise's 2013 movie "Oblivion." Using some numerology, it points to the number 57, and today's game is the 57th playing of the Super Bowl.

Bet on this and other Super Bowl odds on the best NFL sports betting sites.

Philadelphia Is Greasing The Light Poles Should The Eagles Win The Super Bowl

Jon Helmkamp  :

Philadelphia sports fans are known to celebrate their sports teams with plenty of vigor, which tends to show itself in the form of climbing on top of whatever they can find – including light poles.

If the celebrations that were seen when the Phillies made the World Series are indiciation of what could happen should the Eagles pull off a win in the Super Bowl tonight, the city of Philadelphia will be a ruckus party. In preparation, the city is greasing their light poles to prevent climbing.

If the Eagles, who are currently -1.5 favorites in the Super Bowl odds, are able to bring home the Lombardi Trophy, it would be the second time in the last five years that the Eagles have won the Super Bowl. It looks like the police are preparing Broad Street, just in case.

How The Chiefs Got To Super Bowl 57

Jon Helmkamp  :

After trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, few looked at the Kansas City Chiefs as an elite Super Bowl-contending team in a loaded AFC conference, but they're here anyways. What Patrick Mahomes has done with a less-than-inspiring cast of characters has been otherworldly – he led the league in passing yards (5,250) and passing touchdowns (41), and his passing yardage total was a career high.

The Chiefs secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC, locking down a first-round bye. After beating the upstart Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round, they avenged their recent woes against Joe Burrow and the Bengals by knocking them off in the AFC Championship Game. Tight end Travis Kelce has amassed 21 receptions, 176 yards, and three receiving touchdowns in the Chiefs' two playoff games this year. With one more touchdown, Kelce would move into second all-time in playoff receiving touchdowns.

Head coach Andy Reid, who spent his first 14 seasons as a head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles, has now been with the Kansas City Chiefs for the last 10 years. He will face his former team in the playoffs for the first time, and will look to secure his second Super Bowl trophy in his third appearance in the big game in the last four years.

How They Got Here - How The Philadelphia Eagles Reached Super Bowl 57

Jon Helmkamp  :

The Eagles making the Super Bowl is a wonderful story, highlighted by a young quarterback ascending into superstardom. Jalen Hurts has taken the leap into "elite" territory, largely because General Manager Howie Roseman went all in on providing him with a supporting cast that would facilitate his growth.

After drafting DeVonta Smith, the former Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver out of Alabama, with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Roseman swung for the fences and traded for Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown during the 2022 NFL Draft. Coupling Smith and Brown with tight end Dallas Goedert and the best offensive line in the league paid massive dividends, as Hurts developed into a true dual-threat quarterback that finished the year with the third-highest passer rating while racking up 760 rushing yards.

Impressively, the Eagles rushing game dominated the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers, which had held opponents to the second-fewest rushing yards per game this season. Philly rattled off 148 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground, Hurts scoring one of them.

The Eagles can also beat you on defense. They generated the fourth-most turnovers, while creating a whopping 70 sacks. Their sack total led the league by 15, a staggering gap from best to second.

Super Bowl 57 Opening Odds - Eagles vs. Chiefs Odds Have Moved

Al MacMilan  :

Super Bowl LVII is just a few hours away from kick off and sports betting fans in many states are more than eager to make their first legalized wagers on the biggest sporting event of the year.

Opening Super Bowl odds have varied depending on the region. For instance, the Philadelphia Eagles opened as slight betting underdogs of +1 at most American sportsbooks, while a handful of operators opened the Eagles as slight betting favorites.

As for the total, the betting line opened at 51 points, dipping as low as 49.5 at various NFL betting sites in the lead up to the game.

Kansas City is 2-2 in their four Super Bowl appearances, with their two most recent appearances in 2020 and 2021 coming as betting favorites. Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-2 in their three Super Bowl appearances, with their Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots coming as betting underdogs.
